Shift to Conceptual Learning
In a significant reform, FBISE changed its examination system from textbook-based to conceptual learning or SLOs (Student Learning Outcomes) based in 2022. This shift aimed to promote a deeper understanding of concepts rather than rote memorization. Under the SLOs-based system, students can learn the specified topic from anywhere, including the internet, and are not restricted to a particular/specified book or source. The memorizing system was discontinued, and examinations from 2022 onwards were based on SLOs. FBISE conducted the first SLOs-based examinations in 2022.
This change in the examination system between the academic year was met with protests from students.
