Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Instruction

East Central College is actively seeking part-time Adult Education & Literacy (AEL, formerly GED) Instructors for multiple locations, including Steelville, Union, and WEG Transformer USA in Washington. These instructors are responsible for teaching/tutoring adult learners in English. The positions vary in hours per week, with some offering additional planning time. No grading of assignments is required outside class time.

  • Steelville Location: Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9am - 12pm at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. The classroom is located inside the facility.
  • Union Location: Several positions are available, including one focused on teaching/tutoring adult learners in English and another with in-person instruction Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9am - 12pm at East Central College.
  • WEG Transformer USA (Washington): Instructors teach/tutor adult learners in English 16 hours per week.

Adjunct Faculty Positions

  • English & Humanities: Opportunities are available at the Union campus, Rolla location, and online.
  • Fine & Performing Arts: Openings exist at both the Rolla location and the Union campus.
  • Clinical Nursing: Part-time Clinical Nursing adjunct instructors are needed to teach the clinical components of the curriculum. Faculty providing clinical instruction shall have a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing and appropriate clinical experience equivalent to 4160 clock hours. A baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred. Master’s degree in Nursing, preferred. Baccalaureate degree in nursing is minimally required. Appropriate clinical practice with minimum of two years of experience in nursing.
  • Communications: Openings are available at the Union campus.
  • Printmaking: East Central College has openings for adjunct (part-time) instructors for Printmaking at the Union campus.
  • HVAC: Part-time evening Adjunct HVAC instructors are needed.
  • Philosophy and Religion: Openings are available at the Union and Rolla locations and online.
  • Science: Openings are available in a variety of Science disciplines at the Union campus.

Law Enforcement Training

A new partnership at East Central College provides law enforcement training in the Rolla area that fits students’ schedules and provides the opportunity for financial aid and services. Class times are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5:00pm - 9:00pm & Saturdays 8:00am - 5:00pm during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. For the law enforcement program courses, all faculty must be licensed as a generalist and/or specialist instructor as required by 11 CSR 75-14.080 through the Missouri POST Program.

Work Study Program

East Central College students have the opportunity to participate in the College’s work study program. Students must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, submit a FAFSA form and qualify for financial need.

ECC offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance with no premium cost to the employee for employee only coverage. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Adjuncts are hired on a per-semester basis and are paid on the level of degree obtained.
