Co-op Program

DTE's popular Co-op Program is accepting applications for students interested in working for DTE. The Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to work full or part-time during three terms per year - winter term (January - May), summer term (May - September) and fall term (September - December). Students typically work two or three terms at DTE Energy prior to graduation. We have streamlined all Southeast Michigan co-op jobs to this posting. During the application process you will be asked a series of questions. These questions will be used to best match your interests and background to one of our opportunities. Our goal is to match you with an opportunity that will help enhance your education and interests.

Eligibility for Co-op Program

Students participating in an undergraduate or graduate degree program are eligible to participate in the program. Some positions will require driving. Degrees we are currently staffing for include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Construction Mgt/Engineering, General Engineering, Environmental Science related, Data Analytics, Math, Statistics, IT related degrees/experience with Power BI or SharePoint sites, Forestry, Human Resources, Accounting/Finance, Meteorology, GIS, and Business Administration/Mgt.

Summer Student Program

DTE's popular Summer Student Program is now accepting applications for students interested in working for DTE during Summer 2026. The Summer Student Program provides full-time, summer-only employment opportunities for undergraduates, graduate students or high school seniors preparing to attend college. Students typically start in May or June and finish their assignments in August. During the application process, you will be asked a series of questions. These questions will be used to best match your interests and background to one of our hundreds of opportunities. Our goal is to match you with an opportunity that will help enhance your education. Recruiters will begin reaching out to selected students from April through June. All students will be notified, whether they have been accepted or not, by the end of June. Students will either begin working in June or July. Summer Student employment typically ends in August.

Eligibility for Summer Student Program

To be eligible, candidates must have an active student status, in college, during period of work (attending school in the two terms leading up to the summer employment). College students will be asked to provide an official transcript as proof of eligibility prior to receiving an offer letter of employment. Some positions will require driving.

DTE is not currently employing individuals who are or will be living in the following states during employment California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon or Washington. Programs for Graduate Students

DTE Energy extends opportunities to graduate students as well. We offer students pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree opportunities to receive on-the-job training in our Power & Industrial Associate Program and Corporate Strategy & Finance Leadership Development Program. These two programs help future MBA graduates hone their analytical, communication, problem solving, continuous improvement and project management skills. MBA candidates will work on high-profile projects, receive formal/informal training and gain exposure to different DTE Energy organizations. Our Operations Leadership Rotational Program gives you valuable energy industry experience leading high-profile process improvement initiatives in our gas, electric distribution or fossil generation businesses over the course of three years at one of our DTE Energy locations. Those who successfully complete one of these programs could have the opportunity to continue their career at DTE Energy based on their interests and company needs.

Candidates must be considered a student by their school while working for us. College students who have graduated or will be graduating prior to starting one of our programs are not considered eligible for employment.
