University Health Clinic

Students have access to primary care through DMU’s University Health Clinic, located on the first floor of the Health and Wellbeing building. Students can see a doctor for a variety of common conditions (from the flu to colds and rashes) for no cost, keeping students out of the emergency room and instead giving them access to adequate in-network care via telehealth. Annual TB skin tests and seasonal flu shots are provided to students in the clinical programs at no charge. DMU requires all students in clinical programs to maintain active group health insurance. Students may remain on a parent plan, spouse/partner plan, military plan, COBRA, or an individual plan that meets minimum requirements. Iowa Medicaid is an approved plan only during didactic years. Students who are not eligible to be covered by the aforementioned options may enroll in the DMU-sponsored plan through Aetna Student Health Insurance. Students on the DMU-sponsored Aetna Student Health insurance plan will not have to pay co-pays at any DMU clinical facility. Charges associated with the receipt of services beyond the co-pay will be subject to deductibles and billable through students’ insurance.
