In September 2009, a local Lexington family donated 183 acres of land to the college, expanding the Davidson Campus from 97 acres to 280 acres.
A History of Growth and Adaptation
Originally chartered in 1958 as an Industrial Education Center, DDCC initially focused on providing education and skills to help the community transition from an agriculture-based economy to one centered around manufacturing. Officially chartered as Davidson County Community College in 1965, the college broadened its offerings to include a wider range of degrees and certificates, including the Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS). The college officially became Davidson-Davie Community College in 2021.
