Financial Aid and Scholarships

Cardinal Newman High School is committed to enrolling the best students. Recognizing that the cost of a private education can be a barrier for some families, Cardinal Newman offers various financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Financial Aid Application Process

Families seeking financial assistance must complete an online application through School and Student Services (SSS) by FACTS. Newman uses the FACTS Aid system to determine a family’s expected contribution. The application considers factors such as income, taxes, basic living expenses, assets, debts, family size, and the number of children attending tuition-charging schools and colleges. The school then applies its own financial aid policies to determine the family's "estimated family contribution" (EFC).

Those who submitted their Financial Aid application by the deadline, December 31, 2025, will receive information regarding aid at the time of the acceptance letter. Anyone who would still like to apply for financial aid after January 1, 2026 should do so. Financial aid is funded through operations and generous donors. The amount of aid given is limited and will not be available once all aid is distributed.

The application deadline for tuition assistance is in March. The likelihood of a tuition assistance award diminishes after the enrollment deadline has passed in March.

Families can appeal the amount of their family’s award. The school will consider requests for a review if a family wishes to provide relevant, new information it feels the school should have.

  • Sibling Discount: For the 2026-2027 school year, Cardinal Newman is continuing the availability of a $1,000.00 sibling discount.

Important Considerations for Financial Aid

  • Confidentiality: The Financial Aid Committee treats applications and awards with strict confidentiality, and families receiving aid are expected to do the same.
  • Parental Responsibility: The Financial Aid Committee typically considers the financial resources of both parents when determining an award. Each parental household must complete the full application process. If a parent remarries, the financial information of the stepparent must be included.
  • Renewal is Not Automatic: Financial aid is granted on a yearly basis, and renewal is not automatic. Subsequent aid will be based on the submission of a current financial aid application.
  • Financial Need vs. Willingness to Pay: Financial need is determined by a family’s ability to meet educational expenses, not by a willingness to pay.
