The story of BWS Education Consulting began when Brian Stewart, at the end of his first year teaching Social Studies at Dublin Jerome High School, decided to offer part-time tutoring over the summer. He had excelled on standardized tests in high school and enjoyed explaining challenging concepts in creative ways. Seeing that other companies charged high prices for what he perceived as a lower-quality product, Brian saw an opportunity to provide a better service.

As Brian worked with more students, his reputation for quality tutoring grew. He started offering ACT and SAT test prep group classes, working with students from all over Central Ohio. In 2011, Brian left his teaching position to run BWS Education Consulting full-time with his wife, Caitlin. Caitlin, applying her expertise from her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, has been instrumental in ensuring that the teaching materials and methods make high-quality test preparation accessible to students of all backgrounds and ability levels.

Expansion and Recognition

In 2012, Barron’s Educational Series contacted Brian after seeing samples of his writing during their national search for their next ACT book author. Brian was selected to write Barron’s ACT and has since authored several ACT, SAT, and PSAT books with Barron’s Educational Series. His books have sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide.

In 2014, BWS Education expanded to include associate tutors who teach not only the ACT and SAT but also tutor students in math, science, and writing.
