Introduction
Upon acceptance to SUNY Brockport, students gain access to the Brockport Admissions Portal. This portal is the gateway to a wide array of services and information vital for academic success and campus life. This guide will walk you through the key features and functionalities of the Brockport Student Portal.
Key Resources and Features
The Brockport Student Portal offers a range of tools and resources to support students throughout their academic journey. These include:
Registration and Course Management
- Registration Periods: Registration for classes occurs during specific periods of time. Students can view the Dates and Deadlines to learn their appointment for the next semester, typically in mid-November for spring registration and mid-April for fall registration.
- Continuous Registration: Students may register continuously from the start of their enrollment period until the end of the drop/add period.
- Course Reference Number (CRN): When registering for courses, students need to include the Course Reference Number (CRN) for each course they are attempting to register for.
- Advisement Key Numbers: Matriculated undergraduate and graduate students must obtain their Advisement Key Numbers from their advisor to register online.
- Holds: Students should check Student Services > Student Records > View Holds within the Brockportal for any holds that may prevent registration. Only the office that placed the hold can clear it.
- Adding/Dropping Courses: Students may register for courses and make changes to their class schedule at any time between the start of their enrollment through the end of the drop/add period for that session.
- Withdrawal from Courses: During the fall and spring semesters, students can withdraw from courses from the beginning of week five to the end of week ten of a regular semester without departmental permission. A notation of “W” will appear on the permanent record.
- Late Withdrawal Period: The Late Withdrawal Period runs from week eleven to the Friday before the last week of classes. The student may need to provide the department chairperson with appropriate documentation to support the request for withdrawal, and the department chairperson's signature is required for approval.
Housing and Residential Life
- Advance Housing Deposit: Upon acceptance to the University, students should pay their advance housing deposit within their Brockport Admissions Portal.
- Roommate Selection: After submitting the housing application and student bio, students can search for roommates once Residential Life approves the application and bio (which may take up to 1 business day). Edits to the application and bio are not possible after approval.
- Living Learning Communities (LLCs): LLCs are residential communities designed to provide students with a cohort living experience with peers who share similar academic, career goals, and interests. These communities offer opportunities to connect with faculty and staff, and participate in unique programs within the residence halls.
- Triple Rooms: There will be limited tripled rooms for Fall 2026. During housing selection, students can self-select a triple designed room, if they are interested in opting into this style of housing.
- Residential Life/Learning Communities: SUNY Brockport’s Office of Residential Life/Learning Communities is committed to meeting the needs of its students and striving for inclusion and access to all Brockport classes, programs and activities.
Financial Aid
- Full-time Status: At the undergraduate level, students must carry a minimum of 12 credits to be classified as a full-time student. Full-time or part-time status can impact eligibility for various grants, loans, and scholarships.
Other Important Information
- Non-Degree Seeking Students: Non-degree seeking (non-matriculated) students who would like to take a class or two must first apply to SUNY Brockport. Additional information can be found on the Non-Degree Students web page.
