Faculty Positions
Adjunct Faculty
The Division of Art, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Brightpoint Community College often seeks qualified part-time instructors to augment full-time teaching faculty and enhance the student learning process. Adjunct faculty positions offer an opportunity to contribute to the academic community while maintaining flexibility.
Responsibilities:
Adjunct faculty are needed to teach courses in education that prepare students for careers working with young children in a variety of early care and education settings or for transfer into baccalaureate programs at participating universities. Course content focuses on pre-K through high school. Teaching assignments may include a combination of day and evening classes in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats on either the Chester or Midlothian campus of the college.
Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Education, or equivalent, from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field.
- A minimum of two years of related occupational experience, with strong current knowledge of best practices in the field.
- Proven expertise in education.
Additional Considerations:
- Relevant college-level teaching experience with a diverse student population.
- Training/certification to teach online and hybrid courses.
Teaching Load Limits:
Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for the total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS).
