Berry College employs a holistic review process for both first-year and transfer applicants. This process centers on getting to know each applicant as an individual through their admission application, academic performance (as indicated by school transcripts), extra-curricular engagement, and a personal essay. These four factors are paramount in fulfilling Berry's mission to provide access to a world-class education for students from all backgrounds.

First-Year Applicants

For first-year applicants, the following materials are typically required to complete the application file:

Admission Application: The official application form, which can be found on the Berry College website.
School Transcripts: Official high school transcripts that demonstrate academic performance. GPA is a very important academic factor. The Grade Point Average(s) (GPA) on your official transcript may matter for things like class rankings/awards, state merit programs (like HOPE or Zell Miller for GA residents), etc. Because students come to us from thousands of different schools, and every school calculates GPAs a little differently. Berry’s GPA Formula: We use a 4.0 scale and only include your core academic classes from grades 9-12: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Language. We convert the unweighted grades from your official transcript to a quality point score. If you took Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes, we’ll add 1.0 point to each grade. We don’t add extra points for Honors or Dual Enrollment courses, but we do consider them when evaluating the overall rigor of your classes and in making admissions decisions.
Extra-Curricular Engagement: A record of involvement in clubs, sports, volunteer activities, and other extracurricular pursuits.
Personal Essay: An essay that showcases the applicant's personality, experiences, and goals. Your personal essay is your opportunity to demonstrate the experiences and contributions you would bring to the Berry community. We are looking for original content (written by you) that represents your unique perspective. We recognize that the process of crafting an essay you are excited to share might involve working with someone you trust or even tools like artificial intelligence.

Though not required for admission or scholarship consideration, applicants may also submit:

Standardized Test Scores (SAT/ACT): Neither the SAT nor the ACT is required for admission to Berry College, though you are welcome to submit scores with your application. Georgia residents who wish to be considered for the Zell Miller Scholarship will need to submit qualifying test scores. Half the applicants admitted to Berry College who submitted test scores have an SAT score between 1125 and 1330 or an ACT score of 22 and 28. However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges and one quarter scored below these ranges.
Recommendations: Letters of recommendation from counselors or teachers. Recommendation letters are optional for students to submit with their application file.

Regular Decision (RD): Apply by January 15 for our regular decision option.
FAFSA Deadline: Submit your FAFSA by the February 15 financial aid deadline to receive full consideration for scholarships and financial aid.
Spring Regular Decision: You’ll need to submit your application and materials by November 1 and follow the Spring Regular decision timeline.
