Navigating the Berklee World Scholarship Tour and Application Process

Berklee College of Music, a leading institution in contemporary music education, offers aspiring musicians worldwide opportunities to pursue their musical dreams through the World Scholarship Tour. This initiative includes auditions and interviews (A&I) held in various countries, providing talented individuals with the chance to earn scholarships to attend Berklee. The college awards more than $115 million annually in institutional scholarships and grants to students from Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Berklee Valencia, Berklee NYC, and Berklee Online.

The World Scholarship Tour: Expanding Global Reach

Berklee's World Scholarship Tour extends the college's reach to aspiring musicians across the globe. For instance, Berklee held audition and interview events in Turkey, hosted by Modern Müzik Akademisi (MMA) in Istanbul. These events included clinics, lectures, an information session, a jam session, and a music educator's forum, presented by top Berklee faculty members. Berklee also held audition and interview events in Australia. These events signify Berklee's commitment to fostering musical talent worldwide and creating a diverse and international student body. Musicians come to Berklee from more than 70 countries, making the college uniquely international.

The Audition and Interview Process

Berklee's audition and interview process is designed to assess an applicant's musical strengths, academic goals, aptitude, and ability to thrive in Berklee's dynamic environment. The audition serves as a platform for musicians to showcase their skills and potential.

Scholarship Opportunities

Berklee offers a range of scholarship opportunities to help students finance their education. These include merit-based scholarships, need-based grants, and program-specific scholarships.

Merit-Based Scholarships

All entering undergraduate and graduate students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships as part of the admissions process when applying to the College, Conservatory, and Berklee NYC. Berklee Valencia graduate applicants submit a scholarship application within their admissions application portal. These scholarships are awarded based on the applicant's audition and interview performance. Berklee College of Music students also have the opportunity to submit materials within their admissions application to have their songwriting and composition abilities considered. Undergraduate scholarships are awarded for up to eight total semesters of enrollment to cover a single major and are automatically renewed each semester provided students are meeting the terms and conditions of their scholarship.

Presidential and Full-Tuition Scholarships

Each year, the college selects a very limited number of the top entering musicians to receive a Presidential Scholarship. Students who receive a Presidential Scholarship are automatically nominated and selected, based on their audition and financial need. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, on-campus housing, the meal plan, laptop, software, major bundles, and the comprehensive fee and is renewed each year, for a total of eight semesters to cover a single major and follows the standard scholarship policy.

While the vast majority of scholarships awarded are partial-tuition, a limited number of full-tuition awards are available to exceptionally qualified applicants. These scholarships are awarded based on the strength of an applicant's audition and interview and are renewed each year for a total of eight semesters to cover a single major and follow the standard scholarship policy.

Need-Based Grants

Domestic entering undergraduate students who submit a CSS Profile by the posted deadlines will automatically be considered for need-based institutional grants. Because Berklee need-based funding is limited, students who demonstrate high financial need are given priority. Need-based grants are renewed each year, for a total of eight semesters to cover a single major and follow the standard scholarship policy.

Program-Specific Scholarships

Berklee offers scholarships for specific programs, such as the Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive. These scholarships are often merit-based and require a separate application process.

Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive Scholarships

Berklee offers a variety of full and partial merit-based scholarships for students attending Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive, with most awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Scholarships are not available for the other summer programs.

  • Financial aid: Due to recent legislation, there will be new limits and regulations on federal student aid, effective fall 2026.
  • Dual majors: Students who elect to declare a dual major should prepare to pay for semesters beyond the length of their scholarship.
