The M.D. Program

The M.D. Program at Baylor College of Medicine is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in medicine. Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS)

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) offers Ph.D. degrees in seven interdisciplinary specializations. It also offers a Master of Science degree and post-baccalaureate certificate program as well as two physician scientist training programs.

Ph.D. Programs: The GSBS offers Ph.D. degrees in various fields, preparing students for careers in research and academia.
Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences: The MS in Biomedical Sciences is a two-year program that provides a research-based education for a career in science.
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences and Health Equity (BSHEq): The BSHEq program is a 12-month program, designed for college graduates wishing to enhance their applications into medical or health professions programs.

Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP)

Baylor College of Medicine is one of only 51 medical institutions in the United States to offer a Medical Scientist Training Program. This federally sponsored and highly competitive program allows exceptionally well-qualified students to study for a combined MD and Ph.D. in a medical science to be earned in 7-9 total years. Students complete the Ph.D. portion from among the diverse graduate program options at Baylor College of Medicine as well as Rice University Bioengineering Graduate Program.

Clinical Scientist Training Program

The Clinical Scientist Training Program is designed for junior faculty and senior residents or sub-specialty fellows at Baylor College of Medicine. The program offers Ph.D. (for faculty only) and M.S. degrees.

Physician Assistant Program

The School's Physician Assistant Program which began in 1971 as a certificate program, was elevated to Bachelor of Science status in 1975, and on to a Master of Science program in 1989.

Nurse Anesthesia Program

The 2012 graduates of the Graduate Program in Nurse Anesthesia Program were the first to earn their doctorate of nursing practice from the Program. Developed from a 1968 a certificate program that was offered by the Harris County Hospital District, now the Harris Health System, in 1983, it became a Master of Science degree program under the auspices of Baylor.

Orthotics and Prosthetics Program

The Orthotics and Prosthetics Program welcomed its first students in June 2013. It is a 30-month program, where the first 12 months are dedicated to the didactic curriculum, and the following 18 months are spent on clinical rotations and research.

Genetic Counseling Program

In 2018, the Genetic Counseling Program welcomed its first students. It is a 21-month program consisting of didactic coursework, clinical rotations, and a student thesis.

Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program

The Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program is a five-year program that follows the scientist-practitioner approach and consists of a didactic curriculum, clinical practica in Years 2-4, and a predoctoral internship in Year 5.

MSMS Tuition and Financial Aid

At Baylor University, graduate school is an investment in the future. As a student in Baylor’s MSMS program, students receive the benefits and resources of the world’s preeminent Christian R1 institution alongside the individualized care and attention of the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation’s expert faculty and staff. The cost per credit hour for the Master of Science in Medical Science program is $1,133.00. Upon admission to the MSMS program, students are required to submit a seat deposit, which will be credited towards their tuition payment, prior to registration. For priority applicants, the seat deposit is reduced to half of what is required from other applicants. Financial Aid and Scholarship opportunities are available to those who qualify.
