Augusta University's freshman orientation program is designed to help you transition smoothly into university life. Key Steps to Prepare for Orientation
To make the most of your orientation experience, it is crucial to complete the following steps:
Register for Your Orientation Experience: Secure your spot by registering for your preferred orientation date as soon as possible.
Complete Your Online Welcome: This online module provides essential information about Augusta University and prepares you for your on-campus experience.

Complete Your New Jag Survey: Your feedback helps us tailor the orientation program to meet your needs and interests. Completion of this survey is required to receive a schedule.
Orientation Schedule and What to Expect
Orientation runs from 8 am to 5 pm, offering a full day of activities designed to introduce you to the Augusta University community. Here's what you can expect:

What's Included in Your Orientation Experience?
Your orientation fee covers a variety of resources and services, including:
- JagCard: Your official Augusta University identification card.
- Lunch and Refreshments: Enjoy meals and snacks throughout the day.
Orientation Fees and Guests
Each student and guest will be charged an Orientation Fee. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer fee waivers for our programs, as the orientation program is fully sustained through participant fees. Guests are to be registered with the student and pay on the orientation payment site.
- Guest Policy: Guests are welcome to attend orientation with you (limit of 5 guests). A separate orientation program is available for parents and family members for a separate fee. This cost is posted on the Family information page; ages 4 and under are free. Information is given in presentation format.
- Refunds: If you need to cancel your orientation, you may be eligible for a refund. Check the orientation website for specific policies and deadlines.

- New Student Orientation: The orientation program continues throughout your first year, providing ongoing support and resources.
- Wednesday Webinars: New Jags are invited to sign up for Wednesday Webinars to learn more about campus resources and connect with university staff.
- Roar Ahead: This summer program is designed for students who have applied for Fall admission but are currently admissible for Summer. Roar Ahead allows students to begin their Augusta University journey virtually over the summer and arrive to campus in August with the larger new class.
Academic Success Strategies
Curriculum
INQR 1000 is a required course for all AU students. Students must successfully complete to graduate from AU. The course runs from June 26 to July 31, 2026. If students do not pass the course this summer, they will be required to retake it in the fall.
Roar Ahead Program
The Roar Ahead program helps students get a head start on their college coursework, adjust to the University’s Fall requirements, and develop essential learning strategies. Participants in the Roar Ahead program can apply for Fall on-campus housing. There is not on-campus housing available for Summer Roar Ahead students. There is also a $34 prorated summer online learning fee.
Technology Requirements
To participate in Roar Ahead, students must have access to a laptop or computer and access to the internet.

How to Apply for Housing as a Freshman

- Confirm your housing plans. You can learn more at augusta.edu/housing.

Completing the FAFSA
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) here to be considered for federal and state aid.

What if I can't attend the entire orientation?
If you are unable to attend the orientation program in its entirety, then you should consider an alternate orientation date.

How to complete required documents?
Each incoming student has a pre-assigned orientation hold on his/her account. You will receive information about the required health documents as well as how to upload them into the system.
