Understanding Arizona State University Tuition and Costs: A Comprehensive Guide
Planning for college involves understanding the costs involved. Arizona State University (ASU) offers various tools and resources to help prospective students estimate and manage these expenses. This article provides a detailed overview of ASU's tuition, fees, financial aid options, and available calculators.
Estimating College Costs: Tools and Calculators
Several tools are available to help you understand the costs associated with attending college. It’s important to understand the differences between the tools. These include:
- Cost of Attendance (COA) Calculator: This tool provides an estimate of the total cost of attending ASU for one academic year before financial aid is applied. The COA includes tuition and fees, housing and food, books, course materials, supplies and equipment, transportation, and personal expenses.
- Tuition Estimator or Tuition Calculator: If you want a quick estimate of tuition and fees for a specific school, you can use their tuition estimator or tuition calculator. This calculator helps estimate tuition fees prior to any financial aid, scholarships, or grants. For additional cost estimates, view our standard cost of attendance.
- Loan Payment Calculator: This type of calculator helps students and graduates estimate their monthly loan payments after graduation based on the amount borrowed, interest rates, and the chosen repayment plan.
- Net Price Calculator: Each school will have their own net price calculator. It provides an estimate of how much financial aid you might be eligible for and what costs will be left for you to cover after that aid is applied.
Note that these are all estimates, and your actual costs and financial aid may vary.

Residency and Tuition
If you’re an Arizona resident, your tuition will be capped at 11 credit hours each semester, meaning your tuition will not increase with any additional credits you take.
