Accessible Equipment and Resources
The Learning Studio makes professional-grade equipment available to the ACU community, fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation.
Canon Cameras and Lenses: The Learning Studio has Canon cameras available for checkout with your ACU ID. Canon’s lightest full-frame camera, the Canon RP shoots 26 megapixel photos and records 4K video to removable SD cards. The Learning Studio also checks out interchangeable lenses for use with the Canon RPs. This allows users to capture high-quality images and videos for a variety of projects.
Audio Recording Equipment: The Learning Studio checks out a range of microphones and audio recorders for beginning and intermediate users. For recording in our spaces or back home, they check out USB mics like the Blue Snowball for beginning users. The Learning Studio also offers portable field recorders like the Zoom H4n or H2 with stereo mics and XLR connections for added flexibility. For more advanced audio needs, the pro audio suite, located in Media 3, provides two high-quality mics and digital interface for podcast and voice over recording.

- Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop is the world’s most popular image-editing tool, available to the ACU community as part of Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Adobe Lightroom: Those new to photo editing should explore Adobe Lightroom to start. It’s packed with many of the features of Photoshop, in an intuitive, easy-to-use interface.
- Adobe Rush: The best software for getting started with video editing, Adobe Rush lets you combine still images with video and audio clips for quick dynamic videos.
Dedicated Production Spaces
The Learning Studio provides specialized spaces tailored to different production needs, enhancing the creative process.

One-Button Video Suite (Media 2): Located in Media 2, this suite features backdrops and LED lighting, as well as a simple video recording interface that anyone can use. This space simplifies video creation, making it accessible to users of all skill levels.
Advanced Production Studio (Media 1): The newest space, Media 1, features a Blackmagic video switcher connected to cameras, mics, and film lighting. Media 1 is ideal for producing tutorials, lectures and any video that combines live delivery with slides or images from a computer.

The Learning Studio actively collaborates with faculty and departments across campus, playing a vital role in showcasing academic initiatives and student work.
Film Festival Submissions: The Learning Studio supports ambitious creative projects, exemplified by their collaboration with Art & Design prof Mike Wiggins. Their first film festival submission in 2023 involved filming interviews with authors, tech leaders, and storytellers who lead creative teams in Austin, LA, and San Francisco. Academic Partnerships: The Learning Studio partners with academic departments to enhance learning experiences. In 2022 they developed a video introduction to Baseball History with ACU Dallas. The course included interviews with experts from the Baseball Hall of Fame, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and the Texas Rangers.
